Intro
Business with SDGs
Since Charmcare’s establishment in 2004, we have been working on the mission of contributing to a happy and healthy life for mankind through creative innovation. In the field of medical bio-signals, continuous research and development are being carried out, and products such as pulse oximeters and patients monitors are being produced. In 2014, we started researching and developing new products with a focus on the development of wearable medical devices to meet the needs of the rapidly changing global era. Charmcare holds various patents in the field of wearable blood pressure and bio-signal sensors, and exports products to various countries around the world.
We hope that Charmcare’s technology helps the sustainability of the entire world. Charmcare aims to provide better medical services through early diagnosis of the internationally deteriorating health of humankind. In particular, we want to align our business capabilities with the achievement of SDG 3.4. To achieve this, we will aggressively utilize the sustainable public procurement of SDG 12.7 and the partnership activities of sharing knowledge, expertise, technology, and financial resources of SDG 17.16.
Goal 3. Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages
3.4 By 2030, reduce by one third premature mortality from non-communicable diseases through prevention and treatment and promote mental health and well-being.
3.4.1 Decrease mortality rate attribute to cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes or chronic respiratory disease
The specific core goals of Charmcare are consistent with SDGs 3.4.1. Charmcare researches and develops wearable products for quick, self-diagnosis when there is an abnormality in the body to lower the mortality rate from cardiovascular diseases and chronic respiratory diseases. More than 90% of high blood pressure, which is the root of all illnesses, is essential and the exact cause is still unknown in most cases. Only the remaining 5 to 10% are secondary hypertension with a clear cause. Genetic factors, aging, obesity, eating habits, lack of exercise, and stress are known to cause high blood pressure.
Hypertensive patients need to figure out which lifestyle causes high blood pressure and manage them themselves. This is a direct factor related to the significant reduction in premature mortality from non-communicable diseases in SDGs 3.4. However, the oscillometric sphygmomanometer, which is known for its highest accuracy, is inconvenient to carry and cannot be easily measured frequently. With its compact, wrist-worn portability and medical-grade accuracy, the H2-BP will be good news for hypertensive patients around the world.
Since Charmcare produces pulse oximeters and patient monitors, we have sufficient technology and experience in the medical device industry. The ultimate goal is to produce a compact patient monitor that can measure blood pressure, oximeter, electrocardiograph, and temperature all in one device, and a wearable device that can automatically measure blood pressure regardless of altitude. Once these developments are completed, people around the world will be able to experience innovative technologies that allow them to easily diagnose their health at home or in daily life.
Charmcare will provide a medical platform that gives customized medical services based on the diagnosis data of patients to ensure continuous business management.
The COVID-19 outbreak has provided an opportunity to remind us once again how important pulse oximeters are in monitoring the patients’ life and conditions. The COVID-19 is a type of respiratory disease, the pulse oximeter is being used as a simple way to diagnose the patient because their oxygen levels sometimes drop abnormally low even in asymptomatic patients.
Since its establishment in 2004, Charmcare has been researching, developing, producing, and upgrading pulse oximeters and patient monitors. Accordingly, we have abundant experience in bio-sensors and bio-signals, and based on this, we continuously invest R&D resources in developing new products and technologies. We believe that one of the most important factors for achieving SDGs 3.4, designated by the UN, is the continuous management of one’s own health. Existing medical devices and diagnostic methods do not have any indicators that can easily measure their condition unless they visit the hospital. In response, Charmcare’s wearable devices will contribute to lowering the premature mortality rates related to non-communicable diseases by being supplied to patients with cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, allowing them to easier check from anywhere and encourage hospital visits.
Goal 12. Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns
12.7 Promote public procurement practices that are sustainable, in accordance with national policies and priorities
Since Charmcare has been manufacturing medical devices for hospitals, there are active partnership companies that have been successfully connected through public bidding conducted by the state or large corporate hospitals. We got to know companies in Peru, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, France, India, Chile, Mexico, Poland, and Turkey through public bidding, and have maintained mutual interests through direct and indirect exports so far.
As of 2021, due to the particular situation of COVID-19, several emergency bids are in progress at the national level. At a time when public health is being evaluated as the top priority, Charmcare is actively participating in bidding and procurement for products that can be supplied. We strive to supply stable products through public procurement from UN-affiliated organizations or government-affiliated administrative agencies.
Goal 17. Strengthen the means of implementation and
revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development
17.16 Enhance the global partnership for sustainable development, complemented by multi-stakeholder partnerships that mobilize and share knowledge, expertise, technology and financial resources, to support the achievement of the sustainable development goals in all countries, in particular developing countries.
As mentioned above, we share advanced technology with companies that have been trading Charmcare’s stable and durable products for a long time, and cooperate with stakeholders to provide suitable programs for local markets.
Charmcare is aware that the medical conditions and environment in developing countries are not yet sufficient. In order for products to be stably supplied to the country, technical knowledge must be shared and active cooperative partnerships must be maintained. We will transparently disclose and share product performance, information, and materials for product distribution to facilitate product use in various countries.
We solidify our existing partnerships and form new global partnerships in the future. In addition, we have the expectation that we can promote the excellence of our products through various opportunities and continue to grow together.
